  • Canadian Wabobian Tournament

Post by Jordan on August 31st, 2011

Canada has balls. Yep, that’s right. Last weekend, Brett P. of White Rock, British Columbia played Waboba with his friends as part of our Tournament promotion. Brett received balls, t -shirts, bumper stickers and a $250 cash prize for the winning teams from us. I know, I know. That’s awesome right? (There’s still a chance for you to get the same deal. Just email if you think you can do it up like Brett did, cause he rocks.)

Below Brett shares his recap with us and some photos from the tournament. From the looks of it, they had a blast. How could they not?

    The Tournament
There were 19 people that showed up; enough for 6 teams of 3 plus a spare. I brought pizza and drinks and we made quite an event out of it. The beach was really busy. It was also perfect because there is a channel for boats right in front of where we played. There was a ton of interest from the general public. Boaters were stopping to look and lots of children were watching too. I heard a kid yelling to his dad: “they have a ball that can bounce on water; that’s so cool! ” The best part was that people of all ages were coming to view. A bunch of teenagers who were playing hackie sack on the beach came by to watch for a bit. A bunch of the people in the tournament were already asking if we can do it again next year.

    The Championships
My lowly Wizards beat out the fiesty Pirates in the last game of the round robin tournament for our only win. The loss eliminated the Pirates and meant that the The Dark Horse Demons made it to the finals against the very mighty Grizzlies. In the end, the finals went to 10 points with the Dark Horse Demons taking the $150 grand prize with a score of 10-6. The winners couldn’t believe that they actually got to take a $50 bill home with them. They thought that I would be mailing a cheque out. haha. Instead of taking the second place money, each member of the Grizzlies wanted a Waboba ball instead.

To see more pictures, visit the album on our Facebook page. Congratulations to the Dark Horse Demons and the Grizzlies for winning 1st and 2nd place respectively. Of course, many many thanks to Brett for putting on a great tournament with his friends. It truly was the perfect way to end summer in Canada. Now the question is, do you think your team could beat the Dark Horse Demons?

  • Waboba @ Praia Da Figueirinha

Post by Leeroy on August 19th, 2011

Another great weekend with Waboba at a beautifull beach in Setubal/Portugal, families vied to play and filled over 4 of our score charts, this beach will never be the same again. It came alive with Waboba and the game is becoming a passion, a difficult urge to control :)

Waboba brings families together and that is very important, thank you Waboba – message from and exhausted but happy Dad after a game of Waboba.

  • No Water Contest – Win Waboba & +H2O Gear

Post by Jordan on August 17th, 2011

Water = Life and Life = Fun. But if you take water out of the equation, then well life pretty much sucks because A. we wouldn’t be able to play Waboba, and B. we wouldn’t even survive, which makes our balls sad.

Everything in this world is connected by water, from tadpoles to you to zebras. It’s pretty much the force that keeps us all living. But the main issue at stake is polluted water that causes humans/species death, illness, and disease. People don’t really realize how lucky they are to be able to walk to their faucet and pour themselves a clean glass of water, or use water to wet their toothbrush, or be able to flush the toilet after a fresh stinker.  We often take it for granted. So join us & our friends at +H2O in appreciating clean water and raising awareness for those that suffer from water pollution for a chance to win Waboba balls and +H2O apparel. Here’s how to enter to win August 17-31st, 2011:

Simply take a picture of how you use/need water in your daily life (whether its of you or in example, your toilet) and post it to your own Facebook profile with the caption: “If I didn’t have access to water, I wouldn’t be able to _______. Join me, +H2O, and Waboba in standing up for those who don’t have clean water.”

*In order to be eligible to win, you must “Like” both of our Facebook pages and tag +H2O and Waboba – Bounces on Water in the post. Make sure you change your privacy settings on your wall to make the post visible to everyone, otherwise we won’t see that you’ve entered to win. Once we have received all photo submissions by August 31st, we will then make an album and all photos are subject to vote. The photo with the most likes/comments by Friday, September 2nd wins. Let’s keep it fun and interesting!

Here’s my picture. If I didn’t have access to water, I wouldn’t be able to take baths, nor would I have been able to pretend to scuba dive for treasures in the tub when I was a little girl. Now let’s see yours!
