It is like summer already on Dadonghai. Usually, at this time of year, the sea is a lake, but the south swell has come early and there are waves crashing in on Dadonghai Beach.
I walked down to the far end of the beach to film the surfing, but arrived in time to catch a solitary surfer coasting back to shore. Instead, I got this quiet footage of evening on Dadonghai, which I am dedicating to our neighbour John Abercrombie, whose story is a familiar one. (Read more…)
There’s actually a year to go before the event, but we’ve got the website up good and early this time, for a change. Previous events have been a bit frantic.
I had to drag myself out of hospital to do the website for the Surfing Hainan Open, but the event itself was a blast and a breeze (with no small thanks to the free-flow beer from Hainan Beer). (Read more…)
Think of it… you and the girlfriend, boyfriend, spouse, mate, drinking buddy, significant other, crystal sea, cerulean sky, sun on you sombreros, golden sand between your toes, locals (who all look like like the people in this video) begging you to come and help bounce their balls.
