Over the weekend, I tried to shoot a Waboba ball with a slingshot so it would bounce across the river, which given the title of this post, turned out to be crazy fun and a success! It worked best with the Waboba Surf and Extreme, but not the Pro as it was too heavy. You can watch it in action in the video below.
However, Tim, representing Waboba in Thailand, didn’t have the same luck with the Waboba Big Gun he made to launch his Waboba Extreme. Watch his failed attempted. ( Sorry, Tim)
So given these attempts to see the different ways we can launch a Waboba ball other than throwing, we have a proposition for you crafty Wabobians and engineers. Create and build your own Waboba launcher and the first person to upload their video to YouTube and share it with us on our Facebook page or as a comment here, wins an awesome Waboba prize! How would you launch a Waboba? Let’s see it in action.
Moms rock! Meet our Waboba Mum and greatest supporter. Anna is wife to inventor/founder Jan von Heland, and proud mother to their four sons. Even though she didn’t give birth to everyone who works for Waboba, she is truly the Mom of the company and takes great care of all of us.
We asked her to share some wisdom for our fans, which she said, “Just like a Waboba ball, you have to learn by doing and practicing in life with a never-ending wish to advance. Never give up if you believe in something.” So in other words, one day she will be able to play better with the Pro and Extreme and her boys will stop teasing her. For 6 years, it’s been hopeless for her to play, but ever since we came out with the Waboba Surf, which is easier and made for beginners, she’s been playing and practicing much more. Look out boys, your Mum’s going to beat your butts in a game one day!
Tell us about your Mom. What is she like? Does she play Waboba?
In case you haven’t met the new members of the Waboba family, here they are:
The Street is the first Waboba ball designed to hit the pavement. But as you can see, it’s not just any ball. Besides, how would a ball that bounces on the ground be a cool invention if it was nothing new? So we took it up a notch and created the Street to be a new ball with attitude. With it’s patented design and shape, it has an unpredictable bounce depending on how you throw it. The harder you throw, the straighter the bounce. The slower, the more wacky. Try different surfaces and run around to catch it. The other day, I played with it on open grass, which made for an exciting game considering the bumpy ground offers an added unpredictably. Then later, I decided to play a classic game of wall ball at the local library. Sadly, I got too excited and my ball landed on the roof. If I was playing with people who were masters at parkour (which this ball is perfect for), then I would have made them do their ninja-like moves to get on the roof to throw it down for me. But I didn’t. So maybe the janitor is playing with it now.
The Waboba Surf is the newest addition to our line of water bouncing balls. We love the challenges of the Extreme and the Pro, but realized that not everyone can handle their force, speed and bounce. We also know that kids love the Blast ball because it is softer and easier to play with. So, we created a ball to be like the Extreme, but with the softness and friendliness of the Blast that would play well in the ocean as well as in the pool. It’s great for all around family fun and for beginners, but even athletes enjoy playing with the Waboba Surf.
Both the Surf and the Street will soon be available online for purchase. Which one are you anxious to play with?
Here in the States, Charleston, SC to be in fact, we had our first beach day of the season over the weekend. It was 80 degrees and sunny, which made it a perfect day to put on our bathing suits! After months of grey and cold, it feels so good to dig your feet in the sand and feel all the vitamin D goodness from the sun warming you head to toe again.
As we know, a day at the beach isn’t a day at the beach without Waboba! The anticipation built, so it was time to step into the water and have a game with Waboba Surf – one of the newest balls added to the Waboba family. Of course, step into the water isn’t the best phrase; tip-toe is more like it as it was rather cold. But hey, after 5 minutes we didn’t even feel our feet anymore so it didn’t matter. It felt so good to just be in the water. Needless to say, the Waboba Surf is awesome to play with and I can’t wait for the water to be warmer so I won’t have to think twice about diving in and inviting people to come play with us!
The Waboba Surf is the newest addition to our line of water bouncing balls. The SURF ball is made specifically for all around family fun! It is a bit softer than Extreme and will provide hours of fun for the entire family. Designed for the pool retailers, indpendent gift and toy shops who value family oriented products.
Surf works as well in the pool as it does in the ocean – not as extreme as the extreme nor as reliable as the pro, but still a lot of fun even for the sportier family members. If you want to share the Waboba Fun wherever with whomever surf is your best bet – and once you get good enough, go for the Waboba Extreme and the Waboba Pro!
The Idea for the Waboba Surf has been soaking in our minds for quite sometime. We love the challenges of the Extreme and the Pro but realize that not everyone can handle the force, speed and bounce of these balls. We also know that kids love the blast ball that is softer and easier to skim of the surface and wont bounce off into your neighbors pool should you put some force behind it, but we also realized that its not so fun for the older and its too unpredictable for a wavy beach.
So, for sometime we have been looking for a ball with the attitude and feel of extreme but with the softness and friendliness of the blast that works for both ocean and pool play.
And now we are proud to announce Surf – the ball that does just that.
The Waboba SURF’s attributes makes it suitable for families with kids in the ages 10-15 with pool or nearby ocean. Target retail-store is Toy and Pool shops.
